APS Union representative and Union support person training
Overview
Our APS Union Representative and Support Person Training gives you the practical tools, knowledge and confidence to advocate for yourself and others inside the APS. These sessions go far deeper than basic introductions. They draw on best practice union organising, APS workplace rights, and real case scenarios so you can act with clarity when it matters most.
Across two focused 90 minute sessions, you will learn how to
• Navigate disciplinary meetings, investigations and performance processes
• Understand your rights and obligations as a representative or support person
• Ask the right questions and intervene appropriately
• Protect procedural fairness
• Recognise employer tactics and respond strategically
• Support colleagues through restructures and change
• Stay calm, prepared and in control during high pressure conversations
• Build union presence and confidence in your workplace
By the end, you will be equipped to play a meaningful role in strengthening the union across the APS and supporting members with professionalism and influence.
