About the course:

Are you interested in making smart artificial intelligence? Do you like making video games?

Master the art of game development & integrate AI in this intensive two-day workshop. Learn how to use Unity3D, the most popular software in the game development industry, and acquire awesome game design & coding skills to create an epic game project that you can take home to show your friends and family. Students have come away with games similar to PAC-MAN, Slender, Mr Shifty, and more - all through just a couple of days of these workshops.

Day 1 of this workshop will teach you the basics on how to use Unity, the world’s most popular game engine. You’ll learn how to design & build a virtual environment to make it suitable for some game mechanics in preparation for Day 2. You will also learn the basics of C# coding, creating some simple game systems suitable for a world full of artificial intelligence. 

Day 2 of this workshop will teach you how to create the artificial intelligence that will run around your world & give your game some life. You'll learn about where AI is used (not just in games!), what it takes to design good AI programs, and more about game design. You'll also learn about compiling games and quality assurance - you'll be able to dissect other games & look at video games with a new professional insight!

This is a 2-day course perfect for beginners, teaching participants how to make a fun & interactive game and learn about artificial intelligence. Participants will come away with a Unity project to continue game development in their own time, and a compiled Unity game that they can show their family and friends.

Day 1:

  • Intro to Unity 3D and its main functions

  • Learn Game Level Design

  • Basic Coding skills with C#

Day 2: 

  • Take your coding to next Level with C#

    • Artificial intelligence design

    • Unity NavMesh & pathfinding systems

  • Finish the first game that you can take home

Outcomes of this workshop include: C# coding skills, game & level design skills, and a thrilling game with artificial intelligence!

The software you'll be using: Unity 3D, C#

Prerequisites: None

Time: 9 am-3.30 pm

What to bring: lunch and snacks

Course suitable for: Ages 12+, high school students or anyone wanting to upskill in Unity 3D
