About this event
Join us for our live panel discussion on Climate Change and Humanity in the Asia Pacific Region, on Wednesday, May 25 at 2.00pm AEST.
The Asia Pacific Research Centre, College of Human and Social Futures, University of Newcastle, Australia, is delighted to present this lively and informative symposium and panel discussion event covering the effects of climate change on humanity in the Asia Pacific Region.
The world is facing the most significant environmental challenges of our time. Countries in the Asia Pacific Region have experienced higher temperatures, floods, extreme droughts, fire seasons, and extreme weather. Our lives and actions, intentional or unintentional, are impacted by and impact climate change with severe consequences for our ecosystem. The growing interrelatedness of the impact of climate change on different sectors of society has renewed interest in understanding the factors exacerbating climate change and the associated effects of climate change on humanity, and the role the global community could play in addressing climate change.
Our panel discussion will explore some of the critical issues relating to climate change and humanity within the context of the Asia Pacific Region:
1. Climate Action and Partnerships.
2. Climate Change and Livelihoods, Peace and Justice and Role of Institutions.
3. Sustainable Cities and Communities and Responsible Consumption and Production.
4. Quality Education and Climate Action.
Professor Frank Agbola, Director of the Asia Pacific Research Centre and Assistant Dean - Asia Pacific Engagement, College of Human and Social Futures, University of Newcastle, Australia, will welcome participants to the event.
