Description
Come and join us for the 'Apple & Citrus Field Day' to learn more about the impact of netting enclosures on fruit production and water efficiency. This is a free event for all attendees.
Citrus Australia SA and Apple and Pear Growers Association SA are proud to host this field day for Riverland growers interested in learning more about netting infrastructure, netting as an innovative farming system along with growing apples and citrus in the Riverland climate.
Attendees are welcome to attend both events or just one of the events. Registration is for catering purposes so we can prepare for the number of attendees, you won't need to bring your tickets on the day.
Morning event
Apple Orchard, 9am-12pm River Corp, Anderson Rd Loxton North
Speakers and topics will include:
Fergus McLachlan (Rivercorp) - Apples and netted orchards in the Riverland, why grow apples in this climate and the benefits and challenges experienced along the way.
Dr Cassandra Collins (Adelaide Uni) - Apple production under netting case study, first season’s results.
Susie Green (Apple & Pear Growers Association SA) - Calculators, tools and case studies to back the investment decision.
Pete Keynes & Shane Waechter (Agriexchange) - Apple orchard on site soil pit discussing root zones, compaction, salt leaching, soil constraints, irrigation strategies and much more. Irrigation strategies for drier times and decreased water allocations.
A complimentary BBQ lunch will be supplied at the end of the session.
Afternoon event
