APA’s Natural Resources and Energy Special Interest Group Launch and Professional Development

Seminar

The African Professionals of Australia invites the public to the launch of its first special interest group (Natural Resources and Energy). The launch will be followed by a professional development seminar title “Leading Successful Projects: Key Success Factors.

The purpose of the SIG is to promote the professional aspect of the mining and oil and gas industry, from its explorations activities, develop phase through to the operational processing and downstream activities. The group aims at consolidating, deepening, and broaden industry best practices and knowledge of the APA members to ensure continuous professional development and keeping up- to date with novel technology advancement aiming at reducing CAPEX and improving operational efficiency within the mining and oil & gas industry. The group intends to be the link between the academia and the industry for sharing projects, studies, and operations experience and lesson learnt. The group welcomes students, academics and new entrants, experienced professionals to the industry

With slow economic growth, shifting global market priorities and the push for innovation, organizations need to get the best out of their investments (shorter payback for investment and sustainable revenue generations) projects. Project managers need to know what to look out for and what information to ask for, to ensure their investment in new and critical initiatives will be executed on time and on budget.
During the presentation Dr. Ebenezer 'Kunle Sholarin, PMI-certified project management professional, author, educator and consultant, will provide insight into how to manage the risk of project failure and importantly how to drive a culture of high performance in project delivery.

The session will cover:
• Key success factors for projects
• The warning signs of projects failure
• Key drivers for leading a culture for project excellence
