Biosolids are the major by-product of the wastewater treatment process. When treated and managed appropriately, they can be beneficially used for a number of purposes.

Biosolids are treated sewage sludges. The ANZBP is careful to distinguish between sewage sludge and biosolids. Biosolids can only be considered as such once they fulfil the requirements of a set of approved biosolids management guidelines.
