MoneyMinded
About the program
• MoneyMinded is Australia’s most widely used financial education program that aims to help people build their financial skills, knowledge and confidence.
• ANZ developed MoneyMinded in 2002, in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education and Training and an advisory committee including Financial Counselling Australia (FCA), the Financial Counsellors Association of NSW (FCAN), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and community sector representatives.
Program impacts
• More than 420,000 people have participated in MoneyMinded in more than 20 countries across the Asia and Pacific region. 6,000 facilitators have been trained to deliver the program.
• MoneyMinded contributes to the improvement of individual financial wellbeing and plays an important role in strengthening financial inclusion in the communities where it is delivered. The behavioural changes experienced by participants include: increased saving, increased use of a budget, reduced spending leaks, setting financial goals and increased planning.1
How does MoneyMinded work?
• Community sector staff and financial counsellors can apply to attend the free two day MoneyMinded facilitator training following which they are accredited to use the program with clients.
• The workshop-based program is delivered by facilitators in regional and metropolitan areas of Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory.
• It is also available online: www.moneyminded.com.au.
• The program consists of eight topics: Planning and budgeting, Getting started, Understanding paperwork, Credit providers, Dealing with debt, Rights and responsibilities, Planning for the future, A roof over head. Workshops use case studies and activity sheets and provide useful summaries and definitions of finance terms.
• Facilitators and participants can select workshops which meet their needs and interests.

What is MoneyMinded?
MoneyMindedTM is an adult financial education program that aims to help people build their financial skills, knowledge and confidence. It was established to respond to the need for financial skills education, especially among the most vulnerable members of our community.
ANZ developed the program in 2002, in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education and Training and an advisory committee including Financial Counselling Australia (FCA), the Financial Counsellors Association of NSW (FCAN), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and community sector representatives.
MoneyMinded has reached an estimated 420,000 people, making it the most widely used financial literacy program in Australia. More than 6,000 facilitators have been trained to deliver the program. It is also available online at www.moneyminded.com.au.
Who is this training for?
• MoneyMinded facilitator training is offered by ANZ and our partner organisations free of charge for professionals working in community services or financial counselling.
• A commitment to actively use MoneyMinded in practice for clients is required.
• Ideally, participants should also have some adult facilitation skills or a financial sector background or be a financial counsellor.
Training details
• MoneyMinded facilitator training is offered free of charge and run over two full days.
• Upon agreement of the Conditions of Use and completion of the training, all new registered MoneyMinded facilitators will receive a unique MoneyMinded facilitator number which will entitle them to materials and ongoing training opportunities (provided free of charge by ANZ).
