Description

Are you interested in upskilling yourself in all things criminal law, or getting a foot in the door?

The ANU School of Legal Practice invites you to an exclusive one-day Criminal Law Master Class in Canberra with experienced criminal lawyers from Ben Aulich & Associates.

Our Master Class builds on skills learned in the ANU GDLP Criminal Practice elective (although completion of this elective is not a prerequisite for attending the Master Class) and will be taught by the best in the field of criminal law.

Gain an insight into the first two years of working in criminal law, learn how to take instructions from your criminal law client and how to conduct a successful ‘first conference’. We will also teach you the ins and outs of applications, how to prepare for representations and the do’s and don’ts of court etiquette.

You will also have with the opportunity to network with lawyers from Ben Aulich & Associates and ANU School of Legal Practice staff throughout the day over a catered lunch and breaks.

Numbers for this exclusive opportunity are strictly limited and registration is essential. Register now to avoid disappointment.

Speakers

Ben Aulich: As founding partner of the firm, Ben has established himself as Canberra’s most reputable criminal lawyer. For Ben, winning is everything. If he is quiet in court, it’s not because he is lost for words. He’s fond of saying that one must never interrupt an enemy when they are making a mistake.

Peter Woodhouse: Peter graduated from ANU and since admission he has focussed his career on practicing criminal law. Beginning his career on the frontlines of criminal defence, Peter’s experience includes working with the Aboriginal Legal Service in regional New South Wales prior to moving to Ben Aulich & Associates where he is now a partner.

Jane Carey: With a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts from ANU, Jane gained extensive experience in criminal law at the Aboriginal Legal Service. This is often referred to as 'the front line of law' as it involves exceptionally serious and difficult matters for Aboriginal clients in a tough and fast-paced environment.
