What is 3MT?

The Three Minute Thesis is an international competition for higher degree research (HDR) students to showcase their research. Students present to an audience on what their research is and why it is important in plain language for three minutes, with only a single PowerPoint slide.

Why participate in the 3MT?

The 3MT provides the opportunity for candidates to practice presenting with persuasion, developing skills that are crucial for a successful career post PhD, inside and outside of academia.

Prizes

College final winners will received a $AU1,000 research support grant. Further prizes are offered to the winners of the ANU and Asia Pacific final.

Important details to be aware of

  • Registrations close Wednesday 8 August 2018.
  • If you register to participate in the ANU College of Business and Economics 3MT Final you will be contacted after registrations close and asked to provide a 100 word summary and PowerPoint slide for your presentation by Wednesday 15 August 2018.
  • If you are successful at the ANU College of Business and Economics 3MT Final and become an ANU 3MT finalist it will be mandatory for you to attend the #ANU3MT camp on Friday 7 September, dress rehearsal on Tuesday 11 September and the #ANU3MT FINAL on Wednesday 12 September.
