Animal Stories of Port Adelaide Walking Tour
Event Information
About this Event
Come and experience Port Adelaide in a unique and facinating way!
Bored by humans? This tour reminds us we share all our spaces with other species, and by telling stories about this, we become aware of the intriguing relationships that have occurred in the diverse habitat that is Port Adelaide.
Before the world was covered in shops and houses we navigated our worlds by relationships with story. Stories about place, it's inhabitants and relationships. Folklore has always drawn on our relationships with animals to teach us, to help us navigate, connect and survive.
It's a good time to remember these things. This tour explores folklore and history, with an interest in how our experiences with animals inform our sense of community, identity and place.
Come join us as we explore such stories as:
The horse that swam with a dog and a dolphin!
The cat that had a baby rat!
The ghost panther of Divett St!
Glowing emus!
and much more!
