Event description
You might have heard of Animal Fun but are wondering what it is - and is it right for the children I work with? Join me to learn more.

About this Event

If you work with young children aged 3-6 years and have noticed a decline in their gross and fine motor skills, or perhaps you are looking for a program that is simple to use but that also meets curriculum and Quality Standards then this workshop is for you!

Research informs us that the physical health and mental health of young children is of great concern. Anxiety in early childhood is becoming more and more prevalent - so what can we do to arrest this decline?

Children who have poorly developed motor skills often withdraw from physical activity and are more likely to feel isolated on the playground and be victims of bullying. Improving motor skills can lead to increased confidence and sense of self worth.

Animal Fun is a program which has been designed by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists from Curtin University to help children to improve not only their motor skills but also their social skills. Proven to be effective after just 10 weeks of implementation with 3 years of randomised controlled trial research - why not incorporate Animal Fun into your classroom or centre and help children to increase their confidence and lay solid foundations for learning.

Simple to use, no expensive equipment and easily embedded into the everyday routines of the classroom, Animal Fun is engaging for children and the fun aspect leads to increased practice.

Sue McLaren, Research Coordinator and Director of Animal Fun will lead you through this interactive workshop - providing detailed information about the rationale and research that supports Animal Fun as well as an in-depth review of the 9 modules which make up the program.

This is a fun, interactive workshop webinar using the WEBEX platform which will leave you feeling confident and enthusiastic about implementing the Animal Fun program.

You will need to Download the Webex software (free) and create an account prior to the workshop.

Animal Fun is currently being used in over one third of all Primary Schools in Western Australia and increasingly in kindergartens, long day care centres and preschools nationally and internationally.

Whilst this video featured one of our face to face workshops - the Online Workshops have been just as popular with some great reviews.

"This program sounds like a lot more fun than FMS style rotations". Tanya, Narrogin, WA

"It’s a fantastic program for Kindy and PP kids. Great gross motor, core strength, stability, locomotor skills, fine motor skills and more! Activities that you can do as transitions, short lessons and full lessons. So good! Highly recommend it to build your class’ motor skills. My class love it and look forward to our sessions each Kindy day, the fun and laughter that comes with it all is an added bonus" Tarryn, Kindy Teacher

"Working on Animal Fun with Sue has been one of the most interesting activities in my whole life. This tool is feasible, inclusive and easy to use in all the countries. I have experiences in Italy and in the Iraqi Kurdistan. Thank you Sue and thanks Animal Fun🦒 🐘 🐬 🐶 🐱"
