About this event
Analyzing and conceptualizing collaborative learning with digital knowledge objects
This workshop on Analyzing collaborative learning with digital knowledge objects is a part of the 2021 Annual Meeting of the International Society of the Learning Sciences. This year’s conference is online and will bring together research under the theme of Reflecting the Past and Embracing the Future.
Call for participation and contributions
With the surge of multimodal data analytics, automated analysis of interaction data has also advanced greatly. Yet, analysis of collaboration through tracing work with digital objects, , e.g., collaborative essays, research reports, prototypes, digital tools, often used or developed together by learners, is not common. This workshop aims to create opportunities for researchers, designers and practitioners to share their research questions and challenges, and discuss theoretical and methodological approaches to examining collaborative learning with digital objects. In the workshop, we will:
- Explore conceptualizations, methods and research on collaboration with digital objects
- Articulate common themes and issues relevant for research and methodological work
- Outline an integrative agenda and network for future collaboration.
The workshop will include different forms of activity: sharing ow work & interests (Pecha Kucha presentations), progressive brainstorming, documented group work and plenary discussions, as well as joint framing plans for future collaboration.
How to participate and register
Researchers, students and practitioners are invited to join this workshop and contribute. We invite contributions from participants interested in a) expanding their understanding of collaborative learning, and b) methodological challenges and possible solutions for capturing and analyzing digital traces of collaboration with digital objects.
If you want to participate in the workshop without presenting, please register for the workshop by completing the registration on this page.
If you want to present at the workshop, please, 1) register for the workshop, and then 2) submit a proposal outlining your contribution. Contributions could range from promising ideas or approaches to empirical studies or tested methods for collecting and analyzing work with digital objects.
Please note:
- The workshop has two parts: part 1 (on June 3) and part 2 (on June 4). You must register for both days to participate.
- All workshop participants must also register for ISLS2021.
Submission instructions
If you want to present, please submit a 2-page proposal outlining your contribution. It could range from initial theoretical, design, and methodological ideas relevant to the workshop’s aims to outcomes of mature empirical projects. Please, follow the ISLS2021 author guidelines (or use this Microsoft Word template) for formatting your proposal.
Proposals should be submitted no later than 30 April 2021 by email: cledoworkshops@gmail.com
