Description

GP's Anaesthetists and Theatre Nurses are invited to attend this education session.

This is an approved ANZCA CPD mandatory emergency response course, pre-reading is required (links below).

Allocated 4 Category 2 Points in the RACGP & QI&CPD Program. Points application has been submitted to ACRRM.

GPs may be able to access the RDWA Professional Support Subsidy to claim CPD expenses, for more information visit the RDWA website www.ruraldoc.com.au.


Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this event GP Anaesthetists will be able to:

  • Describe the onset of suspected anaphylaxis in order to declare it an ‘anaphylaxis emergency’

  • Implement interventions to maintain or restore cardiovascular stability and oxygenation implemented according to the ANZAAG Anaphylaxis Management Guidelines (patient safety)

  • Review The Australian New Zealand Anaesthetic Allergy Group (ANZAAG) Guidelines to ensure current and best practice


The workshop will be 2 hours duration and consist of:

  • Talk / discussion – 60 mins

  • Case discussions – 60 mins

Participant interaction will be encouraged. All staff are welcome to attend and is encouraged as the team approach to management of anaphylaxis is crucial.

The talk will set the scene with a general discussion of anaphylaxis and will highlight important issues in the management of anaphylaxis.

Cases will be presented to highlight important issues.
