A Lake Mac GLAM Workshop

In this introductory 2 hour seminar, we explore some of the key ideas behind oral history as a research methodology and will outline important steps in planning oral history projects, including tips on preparing for, undertaking and preserving interviews.

Presented by: Scott McKinnon is a research associate at the University of Wollongong and the 2021 Nancy Keesing Fellow at the State Library of NSW. He is the author of Gay Men at the Movies: Cinema, Memory and the History of a Gay Male Community (Intellect 2016) and the coeditor of Disasters in Australia and New Zealand: Historical Approaches to Understanding Catastrophe (Palgrave MacMillan 2020). An experienced oral historian, Scott is the vice president of Oral History NSW and Sydney's Pride History Group.
