Event Details

The following 2-hour course is a non-accredited course that introduces you to the technique of grading Arabica green beans to SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association America) standard. The following course is modelled from Q grade international standards test.

By the end of this class you will be able to:

  1. Identify Category 1 and Category 2 defects to SCAA Arabica green bean standards. 

  2. Demonstrate the grading process by sorting and identifying category 1 & 2 beans.

  3. Grade coffee as specialty or non-specialty to SCAA Arabica green beans standards.

  4. Complete green bean grading test using grading test as per SCAA standards and Q grade license.


Classes are limited to 8 people to maximise time and attention offered by your facilitator. A Proud Mary Coffee Roasters professional & licensed Q grader, will supply valuable resources to support your training and deliver learning with the approach to 'get your hands dirty' practicing the required skill and knowledge for green bean grading standards.

Will this training qualify me for the Q grade test?

No! The following course provides training only, not accreditation. This training will hold you in good steed for when you choose to become involved in obtaining a Q grade licence.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Tram #86 runs regulary to Smith Street Collingwood. Stop 18 Hodgson Street is a quick walk across the road, down Stanley Street, walk past Proud Mary Cafe (if you can) to Wellington Street and Proud Mary Coffee Roasters (and Aunty Peg's) is across the road. Enter via middle door. Across the road of 200 Wellington Street is active parking meters that are $3.80 per hour or $10.00 per day payable with coins or 'pay by phone' app - free to download from app store. 

What can I wear?

You can wear anything comfortable and warm however it is important that you wear closed in shoes. 

Can I update my registration information if it changes prior to the class?

Absolutely! To update simply contact the organiser

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You can bring the confirmation email on your smartphone or a printed copy of the confirmation email if you prefer.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Absolutely, please contact the organisor to transfer and update details

What is the refund policy?

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you are unable to make the class and cannot reschedule to the next class then a full refund will be issued or alternativley you can transfer the class registration to another coffee lover! This needs to be done 7 days prior to course commencement.

All courses are short training workshops comprising of course objectives, practical activities to try, test and clarify the required skills and knowledge.

All courses are delivered by industry professionals who will provide each learner resources to take home and keep practicing!

Each course has maximum spots per class to ensure maximum time and attention can be given to all attendees.
