Event description

Description

With a passion for the ocean and self-proclaimed affinity with whales and cetaceans, Scott Portelli has gotten up close and personal with many extraordinary creatures. An award-winning underwater wildlife photographer, Scott’s expeditions to remote Antarctica have led to encounters with Leopard Seals and Humpback whales, above and below the waves.

Scott’s work has not only taken him to some of the world’s most remote destinations, including The Arctic, Antarctica, Galapagos, Azores, Africa and the South Pacific but has appeared in a multitude of magazines and publications, including BBC’s ‘Life’ series book.

Using his photographs as a tool for conservation and activism, Scott has exhibited a collection of photos of Humpback whales to raise money to fight whaling in the southern ocean.

Hear his processes, tools and tricks for photographing wildlife ahead of his next expedition to photograph the elusive Narwhals in the Arctic.

The Australian Geographic Nature Photogrpaher of the Year Exhibition displays over 100 stunning, large-format photos from Australian, New Zealand and the New Guinea region.
