Event description

Description

What’s going on in this photo? Why can’t you look away? Listen to Jess Bray, entrant in this year’s Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Exhibition, as she ties together the process of taking an amazing photo of a particular moment in time and the larger story it tells to those who take it in.

An experienced wilderness guide, published photographer, videographer and video editor, Jess’s recent shoots have taken her to some of the world’s most exciting nature and wildlife hotspots, including the wilderbeest migration in Kenya, as well as Alaska, the Galapagos, Patagonia, Iceland and Greenland. She has sailed the Arctic’s infamous North West passage and photographed some of the most remote parts of Australia.

Jess's photograph in this year’s exhibition, capturing the Christmas Islands red crab migration, demonstrates how nature photography can be a powerful tool in conveying messages about conservation and human impact on the natural world.

The Australian Geographic Nature Photogrpaher of the Year Exhibition displays over 100 stunning, large-format photos from Australian, New Zealand and the New Guinea region. Featuring images taken by professional, emerging and junior photographers, this exhibition documents the story of our unique and ever-changing natural world.
