An afternoon of Women's Spoken Word
Sat. 10 December 2016, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEDT
To close out our Trailblazing Women of Herstory exhibition, The Global Women’s Project partners with Mother Tongue, Melbourne’s acclaimed women’s spoken word event, to bring you an afternoon of women’s stories.
Fleassy Malay, creator of Mother Tongue, along with 2016 Australian Poetry Slam winner, Arielle Cottingham, head a spectacular lineup of women who will move into the exhibition space for the afternoon, filling it with their powerful voices.
About Mother Tongue:
Mother Tongue is a place for Passionate, Powerful, Vulnerable and Honest performance; it stands aside from most Spoken Word events in its depth and authenticity. Mother Tongue is a monthly event - an intimate, warm and cozy night of Woman's Spoken Word. It is a space to sit back and listen, receive, as well as step up to your ultimate awesomeness and share a piece yourself. It is also a place to witness Woman in all of her incredible facets.
This event is part of Trailblazing Women of Herstory - a fundraising exhibition in support of The Global Women's Project, a Melbourne-based nonprofit organisation supporting women in Cambodia and Nepal to determine their own lives through education, leadership and livelihood development. Proceeds from ticket sales for this event will be shared between The Global Women's Project and our wonderful feature poets. All artwork exhibited is for sale, with proceeds supporting our work, as well as exhibiting artists.
Trailblazing Women of Herstory runs during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence from the 25th November - 10th December at Neospace in Collingwood.
