Event description
Canberra ADF families, join us for 2022 ‘Welcome to Canberra’ at Yarralumla Play Station and Weston Park.

About this event

NOTE: This event is only for Australian Defence Force members and their families.

Is your family posting to Canberra and would like to find out what the region has to offer?

Join us at Weston Park between 2.00pm and 8:00pm on Saturday 12 February 2022 for a family picnic and visit the displays from local community organisations. You can also register for one of three timed sessions for families at Yarralumla Play Station (adjacent to the park). Entry includes train rides, petting zoo, mini golf, inflatable soccer, and a jumping castle.

Please register for only one session for your family so we can accommodate as many families as possible.

Session 1 - 3:00pm–4:40pm

Session 2 - 4:40pm–6:20pm

Session 3 - 6:20pm–8:00pm

Before and after your Play Station session catch up friends, find out about services available to Defence families from the community organisations present, or just relax.

Weston Park is located on a peninsular on the western side of Lake Burley Griffin, and offers a shaded leafy area to spread out a picnic rug. Facilities include BBQs, children’s play equipment, water features, shared bike paths and a disc (Frisbee) golf course. Bring along your picnic, frisbee, bike, kayak and swimmers for a great day.

Food for this event is self-funded (families are responsible for providing or purchasing their own food and drink). The following options will be available on the day:

· Yarralumla Play Station Café will be serving pre-ordered meals for ADF families, but you must pre-order and pre-pay at the following link:

· The Veterans Support Group will be cooking up a storm in their fundraising food van, selling hot food and cold drinks.

· Yarralumla Play Station has a café for families who have not pre-ordered, however, entry is only permitted during your allocated group session.

There are other self-funded activities close by.

There is plenty of parking for this event in Pescott Lane, behind the Yarralumla Play Station, and along Weston Park and the surrounding areas.

If there is inclement weather predicted a decision will be made on whether the event will go ahead as advertised on Wednesday 9 February 2022, and the event may be postponed to Saturday 26 February 2022. Ticket holders will be notified by email if the event is postponed.

To comply with COVID requirements there will be a QR check in at the event. Please ensure you check in.

Be sure to register by 1 February 2022, but be mindful tickets are limited and will go quickly.
