Description

Join AMSA Code Green to discuss the future of sustainable healthcare with Dr David Pencheon OBE.

Australia's healthcare system is responsible for more than 7% of the nation's total annual carbon emissions, and consumes vast amounts of energy and resources each year. So, as future doctors, what can we do to help create a low-carbon, sustainable healthcare system? How can we make sure hospitals and clinics look after the planet, as well as our patients?

This is a unique opportunity to take part in an intimate, students-only forum with one of the world's leaders in environmentally sustainable healthcare, Dr David Pencheon. Dr Pencheon is the founder and director of the Sustainable Development Unit in the UK's National Health Service, which successfully led the NHS to cut its carbon emissions by 11% between 2007 and 2015. Dr Pencheon is visiting Australia in May 2018, as a guest of the University of Sydney’s Planetary Health Platform and Wiser Heatlhcare. He is the opening keynote speaker at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Congress in Sydney (14-16 May).
