Event Details

Join us on Tuesday 10 December, 2013, for Amnesty International Victoria's Candle Day celebrations with AmnesTEA, a multicultural tea party.

Coinciding with International Human Rights Day, this tea party brings together good food and company at an outdoor tea party to raise awareness and funds for Amnesty International's human rights work.

Come and enjoy a buffet spread of African, Asian, and European finger foods, and tea (or bubbly, purchased by the glass) and take part in supporting human rights around the world. Bring along a picnic blanket or chair (tables and chairs will also be set up) and make the most of the beautiful Victorian Parliament House's Parliamentary Gardens.

Amnesty International merchandise (ranging from $2 bookmarks and stickers, $5 freedom bracelets and badges, $5-$10 Christmas cards, $9 blank notebooks, $20 2014 diaries, and $25-$35 t-shirts) will also be available for purchase on the day.

This is a public event, open to everyone. In attendance will be Victorian Members of Parliament, Amnesty International Australia Action Group members, Schools Network Action Groups, supporters and members of the general public.

Please bring a paper or electronic copy of your ticket with you on the day. Limited tickets will also be available at the door.
Please contact viccandleday@amnesty.org.au, if you have questions or need any assistance with registration.

Candle Day brings together local activists, human rights supporters, and communities to celebrate human rights and diversity. Take part in the global Write for Rights campaign, the Individuals at Risk letter writing marathon, on the day. Write a letter or sign a petition in support of people at risk of or suffering human rights violations. They are people imprisoned for sending a tweet or attending a protest; they are on death row after an unfair trial; they are experiencing rape, torture and abuse at the hands of their governments.

Come along, get involved and help support human rights!
