Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Amarillo is the project of vocalist Jac Tonks and guitarist Nick O’Mara (Raised By Eagles, The Butcherbirds). Formed in 2014 as a vehicle for their song writing, Amarillo’s music is a blend of alt-folk, pop and country. Their critically acclaimed 2016 release ‘Eyes Still Fixed’ was produced by Shane O’Mara and received four stars in The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald. The album, written mostly on the road touches on lyrical themes of friendship and love, isolation and distance, family and the irreversible loss of home. Their live performance is at times hushed and intimate, with finger style acoustic guitar, dark tremolo and ethereal vocals.

Though the band is song focused, during live shows the ensemble does explore jamming psychedelic aspects where the band takes flight. Cal Walker (Tyrannaman) joins them on bass, with Ralf Rehak (Machine Translations) on drums and Ben Franz (The Waifs) on pedal steel.

Amarillo will perform songs from their album and more in a very intimate show at Some Velvet Morning on Friday 14th July. Support on the night will be James Ellis & The Jealous Guys.
