All-ages Autism-friendly Morning: Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize
Date: Saturday December 12th, 2020
Time: 8am-10am
Location: South Australian Museum
Cost: Free
Come along to the Museum before we open to the public. People with autism and their families can enjoy a quieter, less crowded visit to the Museum. Our special exhibition, the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize, will be open and free to visit!
The Discovery Centre, Shop and Cafe will all be open.
Who is this event for?
While everyone is always welcome at the Museum, we acknowledge that sometimes the crowds and noise make visits harder for people on the autism spectrum. We will be altering some of the screens, lights and sounds around the Museum to make it more accessible for this special event, and there will be a sensory area. We have worked with Autism SA to provide autism awareness training for Museum staff.
How do I book?
Please book a ticket on Eventbrite for each attendee, including family members and carers (there is no need to book a ticket for a child under 3).
You do not need to book a ticket to the special exhibition - entry is free for this event.
We will contact you closer to the date with more information, as well as some questions about your access needs. Please make sure that you add a current email address when you book with Eventbrite so that we can get in touch.
We will also be in touch after the event to gather feedback.
Many thanks to AutismSA for their help in creating this program.
This event was made possible by the generous support of donors to our sensory-friendly appeals.
