ALBANY - Preparing to Plan & New Strategies for Recruitment
Fri. 23 June 2017, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm AWST
WORKSHOP 1 PREPARING TO PLAN 9AM —12PM
Do you support a family member with disability?
Are you clear about what a person centred approach to support really means?
Would you like some resources to help you prepare for future NDIS planning?
If it’s a Yes to all of those questions, then please join us for this half-day workshop. We’ll explore the foundations of person centred thinking and planning and why this approach is important. We’ll share things you can do to prepare for your next plan now so that the process is easier and more inclusive of the person being planned with. We’ll discuss the challenges with being person centred and strategies for planning for people with complex disability too.
We’ll introduce you to a new, easy to read and use planning resource, developed to support people, families and carers when preparing to plan. This resource was developed by WAiS in collaboration with people with disability and their families. All participants will receive a free copy of the resource book and planning cards.
WORKSHOP 2 NEW STRATEGIES FOR RECRUITING YOUR OWN SUPPORTS 1PM—4.00PM
Are you having difficulty finding suitable support staff?
Many employers find recruitment challenging and if you are family new to self or shared management it can help to hear how other families have approached recruitment and found better ways to get the quality and consistency of support they need.
This interactive workshop, co-facilitated by recruitment coach Tim Smith, will share examples of recruitment strategies designed to minimise your work, time and energy. We’ll talk about how to tailor your advertising, interviewing and staff selection to be most effective. There will also be the opportunity to workshop your specific recruitment questions and challenges.
