Event description

Description

Aki Onda will introduce his own artistic practice as well as his experience as a curator of experimental music and sound based practice working across Asia. Aki will also discuss a major project he has been researching and curating of work by influential Filipino composer and ethnomusicologist José Maceda.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Aki Onda is a New York-based artist and composer. He is particularly known for his “Cassette Memories” — works compiled from a “sound diary” of field-recordings collected by using the cassette Walkman over a span of last quarter-century. Onda often performs in interdisciplinary fields and collaborates with filmmakers, visual artists, and choreographers. Onda is also active as a curator and has been organizing major performances and exhibitions internationally, including TPAM - Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama.

DIRECTIONS TO ACMI X

ACMI X is inside The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre building, part of the Southbank arts precinct among many of Melbourne's arts organisations.

While the street address is Kavanagh St, the best way to get to ACMI X is to follow the walkway between the NGV and the Arts Centre. Behind the Arts Centre you will see the blue ACMI X sign across the pedestrian bridge when ACMI X is located.
