The ambition of the AIUS–SA for 2017 extends beyond Adelaide and South Australia. It’s about drawing on our local capacity to contribute to solving the serious problems of our region and our time.

For 2017 our theme is PIVOT; to identify and influence the key points of impact for each topic, understand the mindset shaping the issue, governance and regulation, public perceptions and information, potential future industry and job opportunities in the endeavour to contribute to building the prosperity of Adelaide and SA.

Throughout 2017/18 the AIUS SA will be exploring some of the grittiest urban issues for Adelaide, South Australia and beyond including:

  • the future of our energy
  • Adelaide/SA’s mindset – civic and business confidence, ambition and determination
  • the link between inequality and the rise of protest politics
  • cities/urban centres for young people to flourish
  • hemp and medicinal cannabis industries
  • defining an ‘entrepreneurial state’ for social, environmental and economic transformation in SA
  • the importance of quality media editorial in democracy
  • housing innovation
  • homelessness/ social innovation economy.

In this context, throughout the year, the AIUS - SA will:

  • publish Urban Issues - a series of brief essays
  • host a series of Urban briefing events - soiree style networking events
  • host a range of Urban forum events - professional presentations.

These platforms will enable us to collaboratively explore and articulate this important topic from a range of perspectives including; governance, the built/landscape environment, the natural environment, industry/ innovation/the economy and jobs, people and culture as well as the natural environment.

I invite you and your organisation to join us in this quest.

Membership includes:
