Come and join us in an exciting and unique presentation on space innovation and cooperation by the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, Ms Simonetta Di Pippo!

Simonetta will be talking about her professional and personal experiences and stories in space activities, her role as the Director for UNOOSA including the contribution and impact UNOOSA has in international space cooperation and innovation. Her presentation will also address UNOOSA's contribution towards the global UN Sustainable Development Goals and how space is an invaluable tool for long-term sustainability and economical development.

Following Simonetta's presentation, she will be joined by a panel of VIP guests including space experts and enthusiasts for Q&A session, for your opportunity to ask any questions !

[Simonetta Di Pippo - Bio]

Simonetta Di Pippo joined the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs in March 2014.

After graduating with a Masters degree in Astrophysics and Space Physics from the University "La Sapienza" in Rome 1984, Ms. Di Pippo joined the Italian Space Agency (ASI) in 1986. Her responsibilities ranged from Earth Observation to Automation & Robotics, Science and Human Spaceflight and in 2002 she took up duty as Director of the ASI's Observation of the Universe.

From 2008 to 2011, Ms. Di Pippo served as Director of Human Spaceflight at the European Space Agency (ESA), before returning to ASI to lead the European Space Policy Observatory at ASI-Brussels until March 2014.

In 2008, the International Astronomical Union assigned the name "dipippo" to asteroid 21887, in recognition of her effort in space exploration.

Ms. Di Pippo co-founded, in June 2009, Women in Aerospace Europe (WIA-E) and is now its Homorary President. She has been an Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) since 2013, and since 2016 a member of the IAA Board of Trustees. Ms. Di Pippo is also a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on space technology for 2016-18.

In May 2013 she received an Honoris Causa Degree in Environmental Studies from the St. John University in Vinovo (TO) and an Honoris Causa Degree in International Relations from John Cabot University in July 2017.

Ms. Di Pippo was knighted by the President of the Italian Republic in 2006 and, in 2008, the International Astronomical Union assigned the name "dipippo" to asteroid 21887, in recognition of her effort in space exploration.
