Provide an update of the status of current FATCA regulations and Intergovernmental Agreement's (IGA's), and highlight the differences between typical jurisdictions fund managers operate in
Discuss the impending FATCA deadline of 25 April 2014 and next steps required in order to achieve compliance
Walk through the Foreign Financial Institution (FFI) registration process
Profiles of Speakers:
Yong Lee - Yong is a Director in EY’s Financial Services practice. He has previously worked at a number of financial groups including CBA, Merrill Lynch and HSBC. Whilst at EY, Yong has led EY’s FATCA initiative from a tax technical perspective. He has successfully delivered FATCA impact assessment projects in Asia and Australia for a range of clients including the industry bodies, fund managers, wealth management groups and life insurance companies.
Terence Tan - Terence is a director in EY's Financial Services practice. Terence was a leading member of the FATCA interpretative engagement performed by EY for the Australian Bankers’ Association. Terence is currently leading FATCA engagements for many financial services organisations including a global registry provider, a global insurance company, a large Australian based asset manager and a large Australian based professional trustee organisation. Prior to joining EY, Terence was a member of the internal tax group of a large Australian bank giving him practical insights into the operation of financial institutions.
