Seating and Mobility Overview

INCREASING CONFIDENCE FOR THE NON-SEATING SPECIALIST OT's

5 CPD HOURS

This workshop is for clinicians newer to the prescription process or those that would benefit from a refresher.

Tilly will be providing practical advice on how to evaluate, gather information and select appropriate equipment. If you have an interest or need to be more confident in assessment for wheelchairs and seating systems, and want learn more about how to successfully provide options to your clients, this is the workshop for you!

We'll cover the basics to immediately increase your confidence!

  • Gathering required information in an efficient manner
  • Sitting assessment strategies in the community
  • Measuring for standard/semi configured MWC and less complex PWC
  • Features to look for in a manual wheelchair to suit common diagnoses
  • Common wheelchair adjustments to increase client comfort and function
  • Features to look for in seat cushions to meet client needs

Due to COVID, this session is now running in a virtual format. Have no fears, we will have case studies and break groups to to make this a fun, engaging and interactive day!

Presenter: Tilly Brook

Occupational Therapist

Clinical Hub Team Leader - Australia

Tilly has travelled the world in her 10+ year career as an Occupational Therapist working within the assistive technology industry. Tilly trained as an Occupational Therapist in Sydney Australia and worked at both Liverpool and Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney Brain Injury Units working with clients with neurologic disabilities; providing both functional and cognitive rehabilitation and prescribing wheelchair and seating.

In 2015, Tilly moved to Singapore where she worked with the Cerebral Palsy Association, Singapore. Whilst in this role, Tilly provided wheelchair and seating mentoring to Occupational Therapist, teachers and carers. In 2017 she moved to Auckland, New Zealand where she worked with the specialised wheelchair service, Mobility Solutions.

Tilly is currently the Clinical Hub Team Leader where she has assisted in the development of the Sunrise Medical Australia clinical services. She provides education to clinicians around Australia and assists in the prescription of wheelchair and seating for clients with complex seating needs.
