Description

Dive into the world of investigating how we interact with technology with this tour of the Sydney Human Factors Research group at the University of Sydney.

Human Factors Research as a scientific discipline examines the relationship between humans and the systems with which they interact. The focus is on understanding dynamics and improving efficiency, effectiveness and productivity with the goal to optimising human well-being and overall system performance.

These considerations are critical to the aerospace field, in the design, operation, manufacture and maintenance of aerospace systems. Any aerospace activity, even with unmanned systems, involves at some stage the interaction of humans with a complex system. This tour will give you an insight into how these interactions are investigated and the types of findings that result.

The Sydney Human Factors Research Group is a cross disciplinary team that investigates across range of areas utilising the latest in technological developments to aid investigation. In their world leading facilities, the group has devices such as 6 degree of freedom flight simulators, dual participant virtual reality, driving simulators, teamed convoy simulators, and eye tracking devices, along with facilities to craft their own devices. Their work has been used by a large range of organisations including the DSTG, ESA and NASA: aiding in tests for astronauts.
