Description

Calling all student inventors and scientists! We need your help to secure our water future. Green Heart Schools invites year 7 students to the Future BNE Challenge on Friday 23 March 2018.

You will be flooded with excitement as you battle other school teams, channel your best innovative ideas and critically evaluate water use to discover how science, technology and art can work to build a better future.

Sessions and times

NOTE: This registration form is for schools within the Brisbane City Council area, for the Afternoon Session of the Future BNE Challenge. To find other registration forms for this event click here. If you are registering for this session, your team is required to attend from 8am, for registration, pre-event activities and the official welcome.

8-9am - All schools need to be on site from 8am for registrations, pre-event activities and the official welcome with Dr Karl.

9-11:50am – Free time! View some of the optional ideas below to create your itinerary.

12 noon-2:30pm - Afternoon Session at the South Bank Piazza.


OPTIONAL: Why not create a whole day excursion?! There are other exciting World Science Festival Brisbane events to keep your students busy before and after the Future BNE Challenge.

9-11:45am – In the grassed area in front of the South Bank Piazza there will be a number of water themed and science based displays and activities provided by our partners including Seqwater, Queensland Urban Utilities, Street Science!, Council’s Environment Centres, Botanic Gardens, Waste education, and Water teams. There will be an ocean creatures viewing tank and Will from Will’s Wildlife Kingdom will have a range of live critters to show you. Dr Karl will have his books for sale by Dymocks, you may even be able to get one signed!

10-11:30am There are a range of free, ‘drop in’ activities at Queensland Museum, including return of the hugely popular Hatchery exhibition.

Eligibility criteria

This form is to be used for schools inside Brisbane City Council boundaries to register for the Afternoon Session time.

Limited spaces are available for schools from other council areas.

Teachers and school staff should first ensure that a class from their school will be able to attend the event, prior to completing this registration form.

Student names are not required at the time of registration.

Only one booking per school is initially permitted. On Friday 2 March 2018, if positions are available, registrations will be further opened to allow:

  • already registered schools to register a second team of 10 students and
  • additional schools from outside of Brisbane City Council to register for the first time and/or bring a second team of 10 students.
