Event description

Description

Come celebrate at the beautiful new North Fitzroy Library with some heart-pumping, soul-shaking African drumming! Experience the rich and vibrant culture of West Africa with Guinean master artist Mohamed Camara, who teaches a range of traditional West African arrangements while offering students an in-depth understanding of the Guinean tradition and culture, rhythm and pulse.

Bookings essential. There is no need to bring a ticket with you to this event.

Mohamed Camara was born in Guinea, West Africa, into the Manding family. In Guinea, Mohamed performed in many of Guinea’s leading drum and dance ensembles including Ballet Bolonta, Les Sorciers de Guinée, and Ballet Destin. Since arriving in Australia in 2007, Mohamed has fast become a highly sought-after African artist and ambassador. He has performed at several leading festivals around Australia and undertaken two national tours, and has extensive experience delivering African drumming workshops to schools, universities and various organisations around Victoria.
