Event description

Description

A special invitation is extended to "Aerospace Student Professionals" to attend, as Accredited Trade Visitors, for one-day only and at nil cost, on either the Trade Day of Tuesday 28 February, Wednesday 1 March or Thursday 2 March 2017.

An "Aerospace Student Professional" is defined as any Undergraduate and Postgraduate University, or TAFE student undertaking tertiary courses throughout Australia in aerospace engineering, aviation sciences or technology, or management, who shows a keen interest in pursing a career in the Aerospace, Aviation, Defence or related high technology industries.

Undergraduates who take up this invitation will be formally accredited as an "Aerospace Student Professional". This will include the issue of a distinctive badge to assist Exhibitors to identify them from other Trade Visitors.

The process to seek accreditation as an "Aerospace Student Professional" for a nominated Trade Day has been developed by Aerospace Australia Limited and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), with assistance from Engineers Australia. Full details of this application and accreditation process are available from the Royal Aeronautical Society - Australian Division website at www.raes.org.au – simply go to the dedicated airshow page from the Home > Events web page. This accreditation process is being managed through the Melbourne Branch of the RAeS.

This program is particularly directed at those students who are in their final years of professional study, prior to joining the aviation and aerospace workforce.

Subject to all accreditation requirements being met, this admission will provide "aerospace student professionals" with a unique self-education opportunity. This also includes access to pre-reading material (via selected website links). Additionally, accredited "aerospace student professionals" will be able to attend, at no charge, some of the conferences, symposiums or forums being conducted at Avalon on the nominated Trade Day, subject to availability as determined by the conference manager.

Terms and Conditions of Ticket:

1. Ticket pickup will only be available outside the Main Gate from a specially marked section of the Ticket Booths. Look for the sign that says "Aerospace Student Professional Program: Pre-Registered Badge Collection Point". Pickup hours are between 9.30am and 11am, after which the booth will be closed. Ticket pickup will require positive identification, so please have your Student Card ready for inspection at the Gate.

2. A Dress Standard applies. The minimum dress is neat smart casual with business shirt (short or long-sleeved, tie preferable). No denim jeans, no T-shirts, no shorts, and closed shoes (essential for safety). Those not complying may be refused entry under this program. Remember, you will receive a better reception and response from Exhibitors if appropriately attired in business dress.

3. Personal information provided above will not be used by, or circulated to any third parties beyond the RAeS and the Avalon Airshow organisers (Aerospace Australia Limited & Aviation Development Australia Limited).

AEROSPACE STUDENT PROFESSIONAL FAQ

How will I know if I've been successful?

When you submit your application, you will automatically be granted approval. However, the organisers will review all applications and may request additional details to confirm your initial application. Any requests for such information will generally be made within 3 weeks of your application.

A reminder email will be sent on Monday 27th February, reminding you of the day we expect to see you at the airshow as part of the ASP Program. If you do not receive this email, please contact us at raesaspprogram@gmail.com quoting your ticket reference number.

The ASP organisers reserve the right to cancel applications should insufficient information be provided, or if it is not demonstrated that the applicant has met the criteria for the Program. You will be informed by email if your application has been cancelled.

Can I change my preferred day of attendance?

Changes can be made prior to the cut-off date by following these simple steps:

1. Head to www.eventbrite.com/mytickets

2. Type in the email address you used in your application. If you have logged into Eventbrite before with that email address, you should have a password. If not, you can create a new one by selecting "Don't know your password?"

3. Select the ticket-type ("Aerospace Student Professional"), which is generally represented by a blue box.

4. Select "Edit", and scroll down to the date selected, change the radio button to the date selected, and then press "Save".

NOTE: You won't receive an email that confirms the change. Just make sure that once you've hit the "Save", the new date you have selected is showing on your details page.

5. Logout

NOTE: Tickets are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, so it is not advised to be changing your nominated date multiple times.

Visiting the Airshow on a Trade Day is a limited, unique, and self-education opportunity, that helps contextualise class-based learning. In our experience, many lecturers often postpone classes during the week to allow students to attend the Airshow (and other events like conferences).

Where do I collect Tickets from?

Once approved, you will receive a reminder email on Monday 27th of February. This will remind you of the day we expect to see you at the Airshow as part of the ASP program.

Tickets are to be picked up from a specially marked section of the Ticket Booths at the front gate. Look for the sign that says "Aerospace Student Professional Program: Pre-Registered Badge Collection Point". Please have your Student Card ready for inspection at the Gate.

Note: Ticket pickup will be ONLY available between 9.30am and 11am on your nominated day.

What is the dress code?

The minimum dress is neat smart casual with business shirt (short or long-sleeved, tie preferable). No denim jeans, no T-shirts, no shorts, and closed shoes (essential for safety).

Note: In the past, some students have been turned away at the Gate due to failure to adhere to this standard. Remember, you will receive a better reception and response from Exhibitors if appropriately attired in business dress.

What if I can't make it? (Cancelling your ticket)

It is important that you cancel your ticket as soon as you know that you cannot make it (even up to the day). Cancelling your ticket allows slots to be opened up to others who may wish to attend.

You can cancel your ticket by following these steps:

The ASP Program will be tracking attendance statistics for each education provider, including no-show rates. De-identified feedback will be provided to education provided.

How do I get to Avalon?

Avalon is located in-between Melbourne (Victoria's capital city) and Geelong (a large regional city).

Where can I stay? (For interstate students)

There are accommodation options in both Geelong and Melbourne. Tourist websites like www.visitmelbourne.com contain more information.

Can I bring a friend along?

Only those who have pre-registered via the online application process, and have been approved, will be allowed into the Airshow through the ASP Program. However, regular Trade Day passes are available to purchase at the Airshow site for a cost of $60 per person.
