Event description

Description

Prostate cancer is the third most common cancer death in Australia, with 20,000 diagnoses and close to 3,300 deaths each year. At Wesley Medical Research, we are undertaking critical trials that are focused on improving these statistics.

At this special Advocates Event, Wesley Urologist, Dr John Yaxley, alongside Interventional Radiologist, Dr Nick Brown will shine the spotlight on two important areas of prostate cancer treatment: accurate and timely diagnosis and post-surgical care.

Dr John Yaxley
is one of Australia's most experienced urological surgeons and the first in Queensland to use the robotic surgery techniques for prostate cancer removal. Dr Yaxley will highlight his research program including a new project to improve to patient care post-prostatectomy.

Dr Nick Brown specialises in Interventional Radiology and will be presenting on his research into innovative imaging techniques that could provide more accurate detection of cancer in lymph nodes.
