This workshop will provide parents and carers with information related to advocating for their child in the school system.

About this Event

Expected learning outcomes:

  • To increase parent’s knowledge about the school systems and supports available for children with disabilities
  • To increase parental knowledge and confidence to advocate for their child within the education system
  • That parents will understand the importance of building a partnership with the school
  • To provide parents with information on pathways for complaints

Speaker: Ro O'Dwyer

Ro has extensive teaching experience in primary schools in both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. A passion for Literacy and supporting students to become readers led her to train as a Reading Recovery teacher and work in this and other Literacy Support roles. Ro completed graduate studies in Special Education and joined DSV as an education consultant in 2019. She has enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experience with teachers, students and parents in metropolitan schools.

With the kind support of the Department of Health and Human Services we are able to provide this workshop free of charge.
