These Information Sessions are for people interested in volunteering with Lort Smith in the Adoption Centre and are held at the hospital in North Melbourne.
Our Adoption Centre volunteers commence volunteering in the laundry and help provide a safe environment and sustainable service to the Hospital and Adoption Centre. Laundry volunteers provide the Hospital and the Adoption Centre with laundered animal bedding and surgical scrubs. After completing their trainee period Adoption Centre volunteers have an option to progress to volunteering in the Kennels and/or Cattery.
These sessions will provide you with a better understanding of Lort Smith, and provide details about what is involved in being a Adoption Centre volunteer. The session includes a tour of the hospital and a short DVD presentation. Please note that to volunteer with Lort Smith you must undertake a Police Check, which will cost you $17.30.
If you are not an Australian citizen, you must either be a permanent resident or have a current working visa. Our minimum age requirement to volunteer in the Adoption Centre is 18 years of age.
If you are unable to attend a session you have booked into, please notify us ASAP: firstname.lastname@example.org.

Lort Smith is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve the health and happiness of animals and the people who care for them. We do this in our hospital by providing exceptional veterinary care; in our Adoption centre by providing care, rehabilitation and re-homing of surrendered animals; and through our Community Outreach programs by nurturing the human-animal bond.
