Description
Zero to Hero in under an hour – LightSwitch for the Data Guy
Jeremy will walk through some geeky tips and tricks for SQL Server data professionals wanting to leverage Visual Studio LightSwitch 2010 - Microsoft’s so-called “no-code” (in practice, it’s actually more like “low-code”) development framework. Jeremy will show you how easy it is to get a simple data entry app up and running on a manageable SQL Server instance in under an hour by using the LightSwitch Entity Modeller, Visual Studio 2010 Database tools and the LightSwitch Form Designer. Jeremy will also quickly address some points about why LightSwitch is more infrastructure friendly than Access or InfoPath for “Forms & Data” business applications.
About the presenter
Jeremy Huppatz is a SQL Server guy who has been geeking about (read: Admin, Architecture, Physical DB Design/Development, Data Modelling & BI Development) with MS SQL Server since 1998, in every version from 6.0 to 2008 R2. Jeremy’s involvement in performance tuning and the things that talk to the database also led him to start looking into .NET code and he now operates at a semi-literate level as a C# programmer! Jeremy runs his own business (Solitaire Systems) and will geek for cash when he’s not busy blogging, recording bands or writing the Great Australian Novel™.
