Event description

Description

This presentation will introduce the participant to the concepts of pain including the biopsychosocial (BPS) mechanisms and perpetuators which contribute to chronic pain development. It will also evaluate pain perception from a neuroscientific perspective including past and present pain theories (this component will explore the interventions used in myotherapy practice from a neuroscientific perspective). This presentation will focus on developing patient-centered diagnostic formulations which aid planning and management. Real life case study examples will be a large component of this course and workshop format discussions and group work will give participants the opportunity to apply theory to practice.

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of this course the participant is expected to gain enhanced knowledge of the biopsychosocial mechanisms responsible for chronic pain perpetuation. The participant will have the opportunity to explore myotherapy interventions form a neuroscientific perspective. The participant will also have the opportunity to create diagnostic formulations and develop management strategies for a series of complex chronic pain cases.
