Event description

Description

Jane Jacob’s Life and Death of American Cities focussed on the people who live in cities and the shape of civic infrastructure required for the social ecology of the city to work. That perspective is critical in considering how to adapt and transform our cities to provide resilience to the impacts of climate change.

This talk will:

  • Highlight the challenges of adapting a city to respond to an evolving problem

  • Identify some of the issues that could impact Canberra

  • Consider examples of initiatives for adaption for climate change from other cities, and

  • Look at how cities engage their communities and businesses in processes of change and transformation.
