Meet the speakers

Simon Henry - Co-founder, UWAI, Juwai.com

UWAI is a tourism utility part of the essential new world of digital infrastructure that drives jobs growth nationwide in both city and regional areas alike by helping business reach, engage and connect with Chinese tourists at home and in market. UWAI is currently in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The goals are to help more Chinese tourists spend more money with more local businesses, help local businesses benefit from the tourism boom and thereby drive jobs, exports, local brand sales and education exports. Chinese tourists spent USD$240 billion while traveling in 2017 and this figure is expected to grow to USD$410 billion by 2024. Prior to UWAI, Simon and his Co-Founder Andrew Taylor created, grew and exited Juwai.com in 2016. Founded in 2011, it is the first trusted Chinese brand ever created by westerners in China. They were instrumental in growing a new market sector from USD$4.5 billion to over USD$52 billion in 6 years.

Lina Lim - Co-founder and CEO, Tempus Adventus; Head of Technology at the National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSX)

Lina Lim is the Managing Director & Co-founder of Tempus Adventus, a start-up company that focuses on promoting and delivering Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies in the financial market and services industry. She is actively involved in blockchain for social impact, fintech, and promoting women in financial technology. She also currently works as the Head of Technology at the National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSX), where she is responsible for the strategic direction on innovative product and technology adoption for the business. Recently recognised by CIO50 Australia 2017 as a rising star, Lina was included on the CIO50 Ones to Watch list.

Duco R. van Breemen - General Manager of Haymarket HQ

Duco is the General Manager of Haymarket HQ (HHQ), Australia’s first startup hub supporting entrepreneurs to grow into Asia. Previously he spent 7 years in China where he worked for both multinational and Chinese companies and set up an incubator in Shanghai to support industrial tech. companies enter the China market and Chinese companies venture abroad. Prior to that he founded several startups in The Netherlands and China with various degrees of success. He is a graduate of Zhejiang University and the University of Nottingham, China.

Ping Wu – Co-founder, Cozitrip

Along with his business partner Rinat Sadykov, Ping Wu co-founded the online travel booking site Cozitrip in Sydney. Initially developed to assist Chinese tourists book hotels in Australia and New Zealand online, the business pivoted to a B2B model when the pair realised there was greater demand from Chinese travel agencies due to cultural and industry differences. Cozitrip is now looking to capitalise on the booming Chinese tourism industry and expand its operations globally, with an ultimate goal of building a global travel eco-system using technology and AI. Ping has extensive experience and expertise in IT, having worked with HP, BNZ, Telstra, IBM, Fujitsu and BoCom in China, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.
