Do you want to learn basic bike maintenance skills? If so, come along to this free practical ‘introduction to bike maintenance workshop.

About this event

This course is intended for people who would like to learn how to do basic maintenance and repairs to their bike. The workshop will be led by a professional bike mechanic and assisted by an Actsmart staff member with numbers limited to 12 participants. You’ll learn basic skills to keep you riding all year round and be able to do small adjustments to avoid costly repairs.

Places are limited so if you can’t make it please let the organiser know so people on the wait list can attend.

TOPICS COVERED

• Basic anatomy of your bike

• 5 things to check before a ride (safety inspection)

• Basic tools and spares to take on every ride

• How to fix a flat tyre

• How to maintain your bike chain

• Essential tools for maintenance

• Adjust and set brakes

• How to lubricate a chain

• Setting the correct seat post height

WHAT TO BRING

• Your bike

• A clean rag

• Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and enclosed shoes. Gloves are optional.

KEY INFORMATION

• People under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

• You are attending an information session and the Territory does not accept liability with issues or repairs.
