Thousands of leaders are being called to the frontlines of gospel ministry. Leading in churches, organisations, universities and in the home with a mandate to share the good news of Jesus Christ. In August this year, Acts 29 will be hosting the very first national conference which will inspire and equip these leaders to take the gospel where Christ has called them.
The conference will feature world-class teaching from pastor, author, speaker and Acts 29 President, Matt Chandler. Joining him will be Acts 29 Global Director and co-author of the book Total Church, Steve Timmis, along with City on a Hill’s Lead Pastor, Guy Mason and Leonce Crump, Lead Pastor of Renovation Church. We look forward to joining you at the conference in August and on the frontlines in the years to come.
Matt Chandler serves as Lead Pastor of Teaching at The Village Church in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. He came to The Village in December 2002 and describes his tenure as a replanting effort where he was involved in changing the theological and philosophical culture of the congregation. The church has witnessed a tremendous response growing from 160 people to over 11,000 with campuses in Flower Mound, Dallas, Denton and Fort Worth.
Matt is currently involved in church planting efforts both locally and internationally through The Village and various strategic partnerships. He serves as president of Acts 29, a worldwide church-planting organization. Over the last 10 years, Acts 29 has emerged from a small band of brothers to nearly 500 churches in the United States and around the world.
Beyond speaking at conferences throughout the world, Matt has also written three books, The Explicit Gospel, published in April 2012, Creature of the Word, released in October 2012, and To Live is Christ To Die is Gain, released in September 2013. His greatest joy outside of Jesus is being married to Lauren and being a dad to their three children, Audrey, Reid and Norah.
Steve Timmis is the Global Director of the Acts 29 Network. In addition, Steve is a leader in The Crowded House Sheffield, and the Director of the Porterbrook Network, a training resource for mission. On top of all his leadership responsibilities, Steve is a world-renowned author, having written Gospel Centred Leadership and I Wish Jesus Hadn't Said That. He also co-authored Total Church and Everyday Church. He and Janet have been married for over 30 years and they have multiple children and grandchildren.
Guy Mason is the founding pastor of City on a Hill, a church committed to knowing Jesus and making Jesus known.
City on a Hill is a unique church that has enjoyed rapid growth over its six years of existence. It began with a small team and a big vision, meeting initially in an apartment, before moving to a pub, and then a cinema. It is well known for contemporary use of multimedia and creative communication in reaching out to a city known for its style.
With a background in Media and Communication, Guy’s unique communication skills have allowed him to connect with a wide range of audiences, both inside and outside the church. A passionate, humble and uncompromising speaker, Guy presents classic truths in contemporary style challenging people to embrace the new life God offers.
His clear and relevant Christian perspective is regularly sought by such media outlets as Sunrise on Channel 7, Triple J, The Age, The Herald Sun and City Weekly.
He is married to Vanessa and dad to a daughter and two sons. He holds a B.A. in Public Relations and a Masters in Divinity. Guy is a member of the Acts 29 Network and is an ordained member of the Anglican Church.
Pastor Leonce is the lead planter and pastor of Renovation Church in Atlanta, USA.
In 2006 he felt called to plant a transcultural church and through prayerful seeking of direction settled on the under-served area of downtown Atlanta. In early 2008 he and his wife Breanna moved to Atlanta from Tennessee to begin the process of planting Renovation Church, and in 2009 Leonce was assessed and approved as a member of the Acts 29 church-planting network, which he now serves as an executive board member. Renovation Church launched publicly on January 16, 2011 and since has baptized over one hundred new Christians, grown significantly, and continues to be an example of a transcultural and missional community.
Originally from Louisiana and raised Catholic, Leonce began following Jesus at age 16. He has been in ministry for 9 years, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and holds Masters degrees in Criminal Justice, with a focus on Case Law (University of Tennessee), Missional Leadership (Resurgence Theological Training Center), and is finishing his Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary this year. Leonce and his wife Breanna have lived in the Grant Park community of Atlanta for 5 years, and have two daughters.
