Description
CREATIVITY & INCOME
How South Australian creatives make a living
with Geordie Brookman, Elena Carapetis, Dan Crannitch, James Dodd, & Sophie Hyde.
There's a lot of mystery about making money as a creative practitioner. In this Activate Seminar, we’re aiming to remove some of the mystery, and talk about the different choices successful creatives make to sustain their careers.
Hear from four successful South Australians from different creative disciplines, speaking candidly about how they survive, where their income comes from, and how long it took for them to turn their creative practice into a viable source of income.
Topics of discussion include:
- “Many streams make a river” e.g. Diversifying creative income streams.
- Juggling a day job or an adjacent career with a creative practice.
- How grants and funding can contribute to career development.
- The role networks and collaborations play in career development.
- The importance of self-promotion, persistence, and drive – putting yourself out there.
We’re very excited about our panel of established, highly regarded South Australian practitioners: Elena Carapetis, Dan Crannitch, James Dodd & Sophie Hyde.
The seminar will be facilitated by Geordie Brookman, Artistic Director & Co CEO at State Theatre Company of South Australia.
WHEN: Wednesday 6 December 5:30-7:00pm, followed by networking drinks.
