Event description

Description

Join the Canberra Recorder Orchestra (CRO), the Wayfarers’ Choir and other ACT Churchill Fellow musicians as they exploit the acoustic beauty of the High Court of Australia.

This unique concert will feature Margaret Wright OAM and the Canberra Recorder Orchestra performing music from the 17th century through the centuries to contemporary; all demonstrating the range and beautiful tone of recorders in large ensemble. Guests will be moved by Judith Clingan’s (AM) ‘Wayfarers’ Choir presenting pieces from Judy’s latest composition for music theatre, ‘Harmonia Mundi’, recently toured around Asia and Europe. Alice Giles AM will present pieces from her latest recording: Christmas carols including Australian carols and Christopher Pidcock will conclude the concert with Bach’s Cello Suite No 5.

Participating Fellows are Alice Giles AM (harp), Margaret Wright OAM (CRO conductor), Judith Clingan AM (composer and choral conductor) and Christopher Pidcock (cello). Churchill Fellows have extraordinary abilities and aspirations. A Churchill Fellowship provides a remarkable opportunity for talented Australian citizens to travel overseas in search of new ideas, innovation and excellence. The wide variety of projects demonstrates the importance of these awards. The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was set up in 1965 to honour the memory of the great world leader, Sir Winston Churchill.

Duration 90 minutes.

Please note that entry to the High Court will be from the ground entrance only. The concert takes place on Level 2 in the Great Hall.

If you have mobility issues please email the organiser and provide your name and contact details.
