A Journey into the Past!

Explore our historical world from prehistoric times, through ancient civilizations to more modern times.

A Weekend Residential Camp for gifted and talented children and families in Stromlo.

Journey back in time, let's discover the past together. What hidden treasures and secrets does the past hold? What adventures and trials will we explore? We have planned some fun and interesting activites, workshops, games and exploring.

Activities will require your creative, imaginative, scientific and problem solving skills. Extensive knowledge of history
 is not essential.

For the past 25 years I have been co-ordinating weekend camps for gifted children aged 6-14. The camps provide opportunities for gifted children to participate in a variety of workshops, and to spend time socialising with like-minded peers. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to attend.

WHEN:               7.30pm  Friday 16th November -  3pm 18th November, 2018

WHERE:            Camp Cottermouth | 1435 Cotter Road | Stromlo, ACT 2611

AGES:               6 – 14 year olds

children under 8 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian

Parents of all children are very welcome and encouraged to come

FEES:               Registration includes accommodation in shared bunk houses, all meals

and all activities, workshops and materials. Most special dietary needs can be met.

CANCELLATION POLICY:        Please choose your event carefully as a full refund is not available. If cancellation made within 7 days of event then a 50% refund will be offered, after 7 days then a refund will not be offered.

The strength of the camps has always been the children themselves. Giving gifted children the opportunity to spend time with like minded peers engaged in interesting or challenging activities and social experiences is vital for their wellbeing.

"If gifted and talented students are to achieve their potential, they require expanded educational opportunities beyond the scope of the regular school program.  The students need to explore different career options, crafts, ideas and skills that challenge their abilities. Our children need personal attention, adult commitment, role models they can admire and talk to."(Hegeman, 1987, p123)

The camp aims to address some of these needs within a fun supportive environment.

The hands-on open ended style of activities are well suited to all children with bright enquiring minds including those who are active, visual spatial and tjose for whom standard classroom activities often don't suit.

The Theme provides inspiration for a wide range of activities including science and invention, maps, world travel, countries and cultures.  All these ideas will be explored through craft, creation, invention, drama, storytelling, and other hands on activites.  There will be plenty of time for imagination, fun and making new friends.
