Event description

Description

You are invited to join us for an afternoon event to hear from Ross Boyd (Principal Policy Analyst in New Zealand’s State Services Commission) about the success of recent reform in New Zealand to achieve cross-agency performance targets. The NZ Results programme is successfully using collective responsibility for performance targets to drive improvements in crosscutting problems.

Ross will share with us the NZ approach, including what they achieved, how they did it, what it took and what were the missteps and learnings.

Ross is one of the authors of the 2017 report ‘ Interagency Performance Targets: A case study of New Zealand’s Results programme’.

Ten priority areas were addressed as part of the programme, including:

  • Long Term Unemployment – ie. Reduce the number of people continuously receiving Jobseeker Support benefits for more than 12 months;
  • Early Childhood Education – ie. Increase participation in early childhood education
  • Child Safety – ie. Reduce the number of assaults on children
  • Crime and Safety – ie. Reduce the rates of total crime, violent crime, and youth crime

Following the presentation there will be opportunities to discuss how the learnings can be applied to SA.

This session will be relevant to Policy Officers and also those working in the Community sector.

For further information, please contact Andrew Lambert (Principal Policy Officer, Dept. for Communities & Social Inclusion) at andrew.lambert@sa.gov.au, or see this link.
