Description

Profits from this screening will go to supporting the vital work of 350.org Australia and the Environmental Defenders Office NSW.

*Bonus Extended Version For The Big Screen*

This screening will be introduced by the film’s Director, Emma Hudson, and will be followed by presentations from an esteemed panel with audience Q&A. Meet the panellists:

  • Glen Klatovsky – Acting CEO of 350.org Australia
  • Julie Lyford, OAM – Lead activist from the successful Save Gloucester campaign
  • Jean Hinchcliffe – The face of Sydney’s School Strike For Climate

In the wake of the IPCC’s new report demanding drastic action to halt global warming to 1.5°C, all Australians must step up and fight against fossil fuel influence in our parliament and for a safer, cleaner, greener future.

To explain how ordinary people can take action, world-renowned author and environmental activist, 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben leads the Accelerate documentary – with additional voices provided by Australian stars Mia Wasikowska, Rachel Ward, Jack Thompson, Sean Keenan, and Simon Baker.

When Bill McKibben visited Australia in 2017 for 350.org Australia's Accelerate Climate Action tour, the climate not-for-profit filmed him at the world’s biggest coal port at Newcastle, diving at a seriously degraded Great Barrier Reef, at town halls and business lunches around Australia as he explained the gravity of the climate change situation – and what we can do about it.

The Accelerate movie shows how, when working together, ordinary people can fight for no new fossil fuel projects, push for a fast and fair transition to 100% renewable energy, and ensure not a dollar more goes to dirty energy.
