Achieving Growth in China

In this Thought Leadership Seminar, you will hear from two of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs in the China market. Be inspired by their success in achieving growth for Western businesses in China.

You will also hear from a panel on some of the key inputs to growth in China, including the telecommunications infrastructure, e-commerce and marketing strategies.

Following keynote speeches and a panel discussion, there will be an opportunity to have your questions answered in a Q&A session with experts.

Keynote - David Keir, CEO, Freedom Road Travel

David successfully introduced Domino’s Pizza to China, demonstrating an understanding of what it takes to secure consumer acceptance of Western brands in the Chinese market. He also led the growth of well-known brands, such as Subway. David currently leads Freedom Road Travel, a company he founded to provide experiential travel to individuals and corporates.

Keynote - Livia Wang, Chief Executive Officer, Australia and New Zealand, Access Corporate Group

Livia Wang works with a portfolio of Australian brands to enter and grow their presence in China. Livia has shot to prominence with her purchase of Napoleon Perdis. She will share the insights and challenges she faces supporting Australian brand growth.

Katherine has over 15 years’ working experience in sales and marketing working at Citrix, Intel, and IBM Corporations across Asia Pacific region. She has developed strong expertise in Go-to-market strategy development, brand strategy and communications, partner development and enablement, retail marketing, field marketing, and building and leading teams. Katherine holds a Master Degree of Communications from RENMIN University of China.

Nigel Stitt, Head of Australia & New Zealand – International, Global Enterprise Services, Telstra.

Nigel Stitt is the Head of Sales Australia/New Zealand of Global Enterprise Services - International, where he is responsible for overseeing Telstra’s global business solutions into multinational companies within Australia who are expanding outside of Australia. His role includes managing and developing Telstra’s relationships with these customers and managing a multi-million dollar revenue portfolio.

Prior to Telstra, Nigel was the CEO of Pacnet Australia and New Zealand, an Asian headquartered provider of connectivity, managed services and data centres. Pacnet was acquired by Telstra in 2015 and Nigel played a key role in the integration.

Nigel has 25 years of experience leading roles in business and marketing in the ICT sector. He has worked across industries including multinationals, Federal and State Governments, enterprise and SME market places including strong focuses on the retail and e-health industries.

Working with Channels and Agents in a variety of these markets has been a key part of Nigel’s experience and go-to market programs. While at Pacnet Nigel oversaw and built a major channel program that was responsible of over 40% of the company’s revenues.

Nigel holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tasmania and an MBA from Charles Sturt University.

Michael MacRitchie, is the Founder of MGI Entertainment; a media and marketing consultancy that was founded in 2010. MGI Entertainment has been described by the Wall Street Journal as "the leading Entertainment and celebrity procurement agency is Asia pacific"

MGI has helped over 50 Australian and international businesses build their brands in China. Previously MGI has built campaigns with Brad Pitt, Kobe Bryant, Jessica Alba, Godfrey Gao, Li Bingbing, Sunny Wang, Zhang Ziyi, Beyonce, and many others. In many cases, MGI clients have experienced up to 200% sales increase

In 2019 MGI launched "Taste of Australia" a series of marketing campaigns designed to promote Australian brands and government institutions in China using the power of celebrities and influencers. Marketing via celebrities and key opinion leaders drives instant purchase and allows the business to grow rapidly. Recent "Taste of Australia" campaigns will allow Australian brands to accelerate growth in the China market.
