NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION

Hosted by Murdoch University and Curtin University

Tuesday 22 October 6.00-8.30pm

Kim E Beazley Lecture Theatre (KEBLT; building 351) - Murdoch University

In Australia there are currently around 30,000 people seeking asylum. They arrived in this country by boat between August 2012 and December 2013, and many of them are still trying to secure their first temporary protection visa.

What does it mean to live in limbo, as people seeking asylum in Australia are often required to do? What can be done to change Government policy in relation to this so-called ‘legacy caseload’? And what can universities do to support people in this situation?

Please join us for an evening of presentations led by people seeking asylum. Together with academics working in this area, we also aim to explore possibilities for policy change, as well as other critical and practical forms of collective intervention.

Delicious food from CARAD’s* Fare Go Food Truck, and drinks, provided.

Register: EVENTBRITE
