Description

Banner artwork: Yousef, 10 year old child detained by Australia on Nauru.

1pm for a 1:15pm start

Please join us in Henderson Court under the pines on 17 October to show your support for people seeking asylum who continue to be forced to remain on Nauru and Manus Island.

17 October is a National Day of Action across university campuses to call for the end of the offshore processing regime. It is supported and promoted by the NTEU and Academics for Refugees.

Come and join us to remember those who have died on Nauru and Manus Island, and to call for everyone remaining there to be settled in safe countries immediately. We will also acknowledge the ongoing denial of refuge closer to home, with recent deaths in custody in WA and deportations to danger.

We will be taking photos to post via social media and live streaming via Facebook to show our support.

Please wear something black and join us for half an hour to raise our voices and make ourselves visible.

Please help us spread the word by inviting your colleagues and others at Curtin.

Many thanks,

Caroline Fleay, Lisa Hartley, Gaylene Galardi, Suvendrini Perera, Michelle Bui, Baden Offord and Yirga Woldeyes
